To make it easier on your bandwidth (and a couple other reasons), the game is split into 3 zip files. You will need all three in order to play, but the largest only needs to be downloaded once. Here is information on the individual files. Note that the orange-red text in the name represents the version number, and will change.

1. AW_FixedResources_v1.zip This archive file contains resources that the game needs that change very infrequently. You only need to download it once, and then can keep it as the place to play AW from. If you are playing on your machine for the first time, it is recommended that you extract this file first, as it sets up the directory structure for the game.
• Note this file has a version number, to make it easier to see if you need to update it in the future. You can find the version of your fixed resources by looking in \Accidental_Woman\resources for the version number.
2. AWResources_v144.zip This archive contains updated resource files that go with the new version of the game. This archive is usually updated with every release, and the version number of this file matches the latest release version (v144 for release v1.44). If you place this in your \Accidental_Woman folder you can extract it and let it merge with the \Accidental_Woman\resources folder (replace existing files as needed).
• Occasionally, this archive isn't updated with a new AW release if it isn't necessary. Information on the most recent version of this archive is always included in the release post.
3. AW_v1-44-0_[cheats].zip This archive contains the actual game html file that you will run to play the game. This file changes with every new version release (version 1.44 in this example), and has multiple builds available depending on your support tier. This file goes in you \Accidental_Woman folder. You'll see text "PUT GAME FILE HERE" so you know it's the right place.
• Having multiple versions or builds of the game inside your \Accidental_Woman folder won't hurt anything, just run the one you want to play.
• All builds of the game (public, patron, backer, cheats, elite) have all the game content and are fully playable. The builds of the game requiring Patreon/SubscribeStar support only add convenience features and additional items like cheats or development tools.

Step-By-Step New Game:

These instructions assume a totally new game download. See Update instructions below for details on updating an existing installation.

1. Ensure you have downloaded all three zip files listed above.
2. Right-click and extract the AW_FixedResources_v1.zip zip to the location you want to keep your game.
3. Cut and paste the other two zip files (AWResources_vXXX.zip and AW_vX-XX-X_[yyyyyy.zip]) into the Accidental_Woman folder you created in step 1.
4. Right-click and extract the AWResources_vXXX.zip file. This should result in the contained \resources folder being merged with the existing \resources folder.
5. Check inside the \Accidental_Woman\resources folder. You should see 8 AWR_Images1.awr files numbered 1 to 8. If you do not have all 8 files, it means that step 4 didn't work properly. Find the missing files 5 to 8 and place them in the folder with the first 4.
6. Right-click and extract the AW_vX-XX-X_[yyyyyy].zip file. This will extract the game HTML file into the \Accidental_Woman folder. The game html file must be inside the \Accidental_Woman folder where you see the "PUT GAME FILE HERE" item and the \resources folder.
7. Optionally: Delete some or all of the .zip files to save space.
8. Double-click the game AW_vX-XX-X_[yyyyyy].html file to open the game in your browser! NOTE: Using an unsupported browser may cause issues. A chromium-based browser such as Chrome, Brave, Opera, or Aloha is recommended.

Update Instructions:

If you already have the game and just want to update to the latest version, follow these steps:

1. Download the new AW_vX-XX-X_[yyyyyy].zip and AWResources_vXXX.zip files. Note: in some cases, the AWResources_vXXX.zip file may not have been updated. If this is the case, the release post will mention this to save you an unneeded download.
2. If there is a new AWResources zip file, place it in your \Accidental_Woman folder and extract it. The contained \resourcse folder should merge with your existing \resources folder, and replace the old versions of files inside. (typically AWR_Images.awr files 5 to 8)
3. Place the new AW_vX-XX-X_[yyyyyy].zip file in your \Accidental_Woman folder and extract it. This will add the new game html file.
4. Optionally: Delete some or all of the .zip files and the old game html file to save space.
5. If after the game loads you get a warning message that the game loaded fewer images than it was expecting, this likely means that your updated AWR_Images files didn't get updated when you extracted in step 2. Either find the misplaced files, or extract again and make sure to replace the existing (old) AWR_Images files.

Troubleshooting:

The game gets stuck on the loading screen. Your game html file is in the wrong place, make sure it is in the correct location. If the game loads partially and then stops, it means that you are missing the AWR_Images files contained in the AWResources zip file. Make sure you have extracted this file and that the AWR_Images files are in the \Accidental_Woman\resources folder.

The game gives a error message that it found less image files than expected. This means that your AWR_Images files are out of date. Make sure you have extracted the latest AWResources zip file and that the AWR_Images files are in the \Accidental_Woman\resources folder. If you still are receiving this message, and are sure that AWR_Images 5 to 8 are up-to-date it means that the AW_FixedResources has been updated and you need to download it. If comfortable, you can extract the new version overtop of the existing folder. You can also just delete your old \Accidental_Woman folder and start again using the new game instructions above.
